The FIBRE project funded by the Brazilian government and the European Commission under the FP7 programme has arrived to its first year. Among with this milestone two important events appear in scene. On one side, the first annual review. On the other hand and more interesting for the research community: the 1st FIBRE Open Workshop that will be described in the following lines.
Both events will be held in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. This first workshop of the three annual ones scheduled during the project lifetime will occur on November 26th adn 27th of this year.
The objective of the Workshop is to bring together the academic community and industrial partners interested in Future Internet topics and show the first results of FIBRE, which experimental network (testbed) is scheduled to be operational in early 2013.
Moreover, during the workshop different sessions involving policy makers and industry are planned. Three keynotes are already confirmed: Jacques Babot (EC DG Connect), Ivan Seskar (Winlab at Rutgers University) and Jong Won Kim (GIST, Korea). The event’s agenda also envisages short courses targeting the elements and tools developed and used in the project, as also live demos over the inter-continental Europe-Brazil infrastructure.
i2CAT, as the project coordinator, is assisting to Salvador and participating in several of the sessions during the workshop, among them, you can find the official FIBRE project presentation, an OCF training session and one of the planned demos.
