PAIS project will develop and deploy an optical testbed facility that will available to the Catalan ICT sector to validate next-generation optical equipment and services. One of the objectives of the PAIS project will be the design and implementation of an optical multiplexing node based on ROADM technology (and Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer) with carrier-class specifications. The transport network will be deployed in Barcelona Metropolitan Area, with nodes at i2Cat (Campus Nord), the Municipal Institute of Informatics (IMI, 22@) and Orange Catalunya (Pedrosa-L’Hospitalet de Llobregat ). Another key activity of the project will be to validate a FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) platform. This validation will be done in Bufalvent industrial park, near Manresa, which will be connected to the testbed. This network extension will test and validate FTTH services aligned with the requirements of the Future Internet.
